Our Treatment Philosophy

Our treatment philosophy at the Paralysis Center is simple

1. We believe that no matter what kind of paralysis a patient may suffer from, there is usually something that can be done to help restore function. It’s best to visit our Center as soon as possible after a paralyzing injury, BUT there is typically something that can be done to help restore function and improve quality of life, no matter how long ago the injury occurred.

2. We believe that the best way to effectively treat paralysis is by providing a multi-disciplinary approach. We are a team of specialists under one roof who are leaders in their respective fields – neurosurgery, neurology, neurophysiology, physical medicine and rehabilitation, physical and occupational therapy, orthotics, orthopedics, and plastic surgery. This provides patients with an optimum level of care that maximizes results. There are few centers in the world who take such a comprehensive approach.

3. We continue to be on the forefront of medical research in reversing paralysis. Our research into novel nerve transfers, neurophysiology, stem-cell therapy, neuroprosthetics, robotics and other areas of innovation continue to push the frontier of what’s possible. We share what we know by educating other paralysis specialists around the world, and the Paralysis Center is widely considered to be a leading authority on the treatment of brachial plexus and spinal cord injuries, in particular.
